Oiko comes from the team behind WP HealthKit, a security and performance auditor for WordPress sites. WP HealthKit's scanner is a commercial product — site owners pay to have their own plugins and themes scanned for exactly the issues an Oiko release has to pass before it ships. Every tagged release of every Oiko plugin runs through that same scanner, with the same severity thresholds, before it's allowed to publish. If a finding would fail a paying customer's site, it fails an Oiko release too.

They're marketing spend for WP HealthKit, the same way a company might sponsor an open-source tool — except the tool itself has to pass the exact audit the company sells. There's no hidden pro tier: every feature described on every plugin's own page is the complete feature set. Some visitors who use an Oiko plugin become WP HealthKit customers for their wider site; the plugins stay free either way.

What's the catch?+
There isn't one for the plugin itself. The honest answer is that these plugins demonstrate the standard WP HealthKit's own scanner enforces — some visitors become WP HealthKit customers as a result, but the plugins stay free either way, for anyone, regardless.
Will it stay free?+
Yes — and not just as a promise. Every Oiko plugin is GPLv2-or-later licensed and public on GitHub, so the code can't be taken proprietary or paywalled out from under anyone already using it. That's a structural guarantee, not a policy that could quietly change.
How is this sustainable?+
It's marketing spend for BuiltByGo and WP HealthKit — the same logic as a company sponsoring an open-source tool, except this tool has to pass the exact audit the company's commercial product performs on paying customers' sites.
Is there a paid tier I'm missing?+
No. Every feature listed on every plugin's own page is the complete feature set for that plugin — nothing is held back for a pro version that doesn't exist.
